Fragrant / Aromatic Shrubs
Below is a descriptive listing of shrubs that produce fragrant flowers or have aromatic foliage, and perform well in Zone 8. Plant these fragrant wonders near decks, patios, porches, windows, and other areas where their fragrances can be enjoyed.

Anise 'Florida'

Exposure: Shade
Bloom Color: Deep red
Bloom Time: April-May
Water: Appreciates damp soil
Features: Useful as an evergreen screen or specimen in shady locations. Fits in nicely around shady garden ponds. Unusual looking flowers are aromatic.
Companions: The bold foliage combines nicely with most all other shade loving plants.

Companions: Azaleas, Camelias, Nandinas, Mahonias, Hydrangeas, Otto Luyken Laurels, Cleyera, and other plants that prefer afternoon shade.

Companions: Soft Touch Holly, Junipers, Abelias, Dwarf nandinas, Dwf Spireas, Snow Indian Hawthorne, and others.

Companions: Low growing Junipers, Little Richard Abelia, low growing perennials, and many of the ornamental groundcovers such as Variegated Liriope or Blue Rug Juniper.
