NOTE: Before starting on a lawn fertilization program, it's a good idea to measure your lawn to determine total square footage. Measure the length and width of the lawn area and multiply (Example; 100' length x 100' width = 10,000 total square feet). If your lawn is in sections measure length x width of each section then adding the square feet of each section together to determine total square footage. Doing this will let you know how much fertilizer or other products to apply.

Hi-Yield Iron Plus

Iron Plus contains a whopping 16% Iron for deep greening of Centipede grass. Ever wonder how that Centipede sod shipped from south Georgia sod farms comes in so green? Wonder no more! (A 25 Lb. bag of Iron Plus covers 5,000 to 10,000 square feet.) Apply during growing season.

Watering - Centipede and St. Augustine lawns are quite drought tolerant, however, during long dry periods it may be necessary to give the lawn a deep soaking once a week or so to maintain healthy appearance. CAUTION: Do Not water lawns in the late evening or during the night as this may promote the development of damaging fungus. It is best to water during the early morning or daytime hours when the sun will quickly dry off water from the blades of grass.

Common Pests - The most common pest in centipede lawns is the spittlebug. The spittlebug has a wedge-shaped black body and two red lines that run across its back. They usuallly appear during summer if there's been lots of rain.

If you walk across your grass and it sounds squishy, or you see a spit-like substance here and there in the grass, most likely you have spittlebugs.

Fortunately, spittlebug management is easy to do. If you find these critters in your lawn mow the grass and then broadcast Triazicide Granules as soon as possible. Be sure to read and follow all directions on label. Do not apply chemical 24 hours prior to rain. Make sure to turn irrigation system off for a few days. Delay mowing for several days.
